Route of the Sanctuary of Guadalupe

This area of Guadalajara concentrates some of the most emblematic spaces linked to urban history and to the legacy of Bishop Fray Antonio Mayor. The Cathedral of Guadalajara, a symbol of the city since the 16th century, marks the beginning of the tour that connects with the Museum of Journalism and Graphic Arts, witness to the birth of the press in Mexico.

The environment combines religious and civil architecture, with temples such as the Sanctuary of Guadalupe and San José de Gracia, of a neoclassical style, next to the Garden of the Sanctuary, where the memory of the tapatian benefactor is honored. Works like Las Cuadritas and the Old Civil Hospital reflect their social vision, while the Pantheon of Bethlehem, today museum, retains the funeral architecture of the 19th century. The modern Carrousel, installed in 2023, adds a contemporary touch to a neighborhood that intertwines tradition, history and community life.
