Our Lady of Refuge Temple

The temple described was part of a conventual ensemble that was demolished during the extension of Moro Street, now known as the road of Federalism, in the 1970s. Due to the route of the road, the temple was isolated and, as a result, it was designed an entrance from the front, as the original accesses remained on the new road. This building features stylistic elements of the neo-Gothic, with a rectangular ship facing in a north- south direction, divided into eight clauses, of which the eighth is covered by a dome crowned by a slender linternilla with a Latin cross. The lighting and ventilation are achieved through side windows in the form of a pointed arch, as well as by bodies located on the anterior and posterior facades. The religious set includes a presbytery, sotochorus and an office area in the choir. On the north side, the new main facade is located, which is made up of three bodies arranged in a vertical sense. The first body is distinguished by its base pilasters and double capitals, while the second has a circular vain in the center, reinterpreting the Gothic roseton. The third body is topped by a slender Latin cross. The facade, with its neo-Gothic design, transmits a sense of height and lightness, reflecting the influence of the Gothic style, adapted to the modern context of urban expansion.
