Our Lady of Mount Carmel Temple

The temple in question was originally part of the convent of the Order of the Carmelites, which extended along a large sector in Guadalajara, ranging from the current 8th Street of July to Enrique Díaz de León, to the north with Pedro Moreno Street and to the south with López Cotilla. It was built in the last third of the 17th century, allegedly under the supervision of the Carmelite friar Juan de San Juan Chrysostomo Nájera. What we know today as the present temple was originally a chapel within the old conventual complex. Over time, the building has undergone several significant transformations. In the period between 1820 and 1850, the main facade was remodeled and unified with a balustrada, which gave it the present look, while the painting of the dome was made by the master painter Castro.
