Ignacio López Tarso Theater

The IMSS Guadalajara Theatre is one of the most emblematic cultural spaces in the city, integrated into the Guadalajara Social Security Centre. It was designed by the renowned architect Vicente Mendiola Quezada, who managed to combine functionality, modern aesthetics and an excellent spatial distribution that has lasted over time. Since its opening, the theatre has had a great diversity of artistic expressions. The first work presented was A tiger at the gates by Jean Giraudoux, with the stage of Julio Prieto Posada and the star performances by María Teresa Rivas and Ignacio López Tarso, two legends of the Mexican scene. This stage marked the beginning of a long cultural tradition in the compound.
