Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus Temple

The Santa Tere district has a fascinating history dating back to the 20's, when Father Alejo Navarrete founded the first chapel dedicated to Santa Teresita del Niño Jesus, thanks to a sculpture that was given by missionaries. In its early years, the area was mainly agricultural, and the land was used for rural activities. However, as the land was sold, houses and neighborhoods began to be built, allowing more people to settle in the area. Among the new inhabitants were migrants from places such as Santa Ana de Guadalupe and Jalostotitlán, in the state of Jalisco. In 1927, the priest Román Romo González arrived in the area, taking care of the chapel after the death of Father Alejo Navarrete. It was then that, in 1933, the Santa Tere Parish was officially founded, which marked a milestone in the consolidation of the neighborhood. The parish played a key role in the development of the place, being a center of encounter and spirituality for the neighbors.
