Guadalajara Square

The Guadalajara Square, which was originally known as the Plaza de los Laurels, has a history marked by significant urban transformations. During its construction, several buildings of great historical value were demolished, including the iconic Cine Lux and the Palacio de los Cañedo, two buildings that were part of the cultural heritage of the city. This ambitious project not only changed the area's physionomy, but also marked a milestone in Mexico's urban infrastructure. The Guadalajara Square became the first in the entire Mexican Republic to have an underground parking lot, an innovative solution that would solve space problems in a growing city. The construction of this underground parking lot was completed in May 1956, which allowed this space to be transformed into a modern and functional center of coexistence for the tapatíos, combining tradition with modernity.
