Degollado Walkway

The Degollado Walkway is named after the iconic theatre that chairs it: the Degollado Theater. A neoclassical building opened in 1866. The creation of this walk was part of the efforts to revitalize the historic centre of Guadalajara, seeking to create pedestrian spaces that promote the coexistence and enjoyment of the cultural heritage. However, the area was not always as we know it today. Until the mid-20th century, this area was occupied by colonial houses and narrow streets. It was during the 1970s and 1980s that projects began to open public spaces such as Tapathy Square, integrating gardens, fountains and recreational areas that are now part of Degollado walkway.
