Lord of the Ascension Parish

The construction of this temple began on June 5, 1938, thanks to the generous donation of land and an economic contribution of five thousand pesos by the Guadalajara Industrial Company. In addition, the Miramontes family provided a part of its property to build the sacristy of the temple. The labour force was provided by the factory workers, who actively collaborated in the construction of the compound. Archbishop José Garibi Rivera, in an effort to monitor the progress of the work, personally visited the construction every Sunday. During the first years, between 1939 and 1952, various elements of the temple were detailed, such as the main altarpiece, the presbyterium, the pulpit, the stained glass, the choir, the sober tower, the bronces, the confessionaries, the baptistery, as well as the main door and the atrium. The annexes and the cumate were also built.
