Holy Name of Jesus Parish

The Sweet Name of Jesus parish temple is part of a diocesan religious set that has a clear influence of the neoclassical, with some elements of eclecticism. Its construction began in 1844 and was completed on April 16, 1856. The temple was erected as a parish by Bishop Juan Cruz Ruíz de Cabañas and Crespo in 1815. That same year, on February 22, the first act of baptism, the first marriage and also the first death, marked the formal beginning of liturgical activities in the temple. Over the years, the temple has maintained its religious and cultural importance in the community, witnessing the historical and social changes in the city. Its neoclassical architecture, which also combines other styles, is a representative example of the religious constructions of the 19th century.
