Parish of St. Andrew the Apostle

The Parish of San Andrés has its origins in the foundation of the place, dating from the mid-16th century. It was built by the Friars Bartolomé Estrada, Juan de Padilla and Alonso Gutiérrez as part of their evangelizing work in the region. At one point in its history, the temple suffered total abandonment, and it was not until 1775 that Bishop Fray Antonio Mayor visited it and began his restoration process. In 1945, Archbishop José Garibi Rivera erected it as a parish, an important milestone in his modern history. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew, an apostle of Christ and brother of St. Peter, and over the centuries has been a meeting point for the local community, a symbol of the resilience and continuity of faith in the region.
