Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes

The parish of Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, located in the colony of Fresno, began its construction on May 15, 1938, with the placement and blessing of the first stone by Archbishop José Garibi Rivera. The design and infrastructure of the parish were in charge of the Canonigo José Ruiz Medrano and the architect Luis Amezcua. The construction was completed on 19 June 1952. During those first years, the area was inhabited mainly by people engaged in agriculture and masonry. As the population grew, the inhabitants began to need spiritual attention. This task was taken over by the then parish priest of San Antonio, José Cruz Aguilar, who managed to get a small land that, over time, was extended thanks to the generosity of Mrs. María Guadalupe de Orozco, the owner of the land.
