Alcalde Park

The Alcalde Park is one of the most representative green spaces in Guadalajara, created to offer leisure to all tapatías families. It emerged as a response to urban growth of the mid-20th century, with the purpose of offering a natural lung and an accessible place for the recreation of boys and big. His history begins in 1959, when Governor Agustín Yáñez ordered the expropriation of the land where years later this emblematic park would rise. The construction began during the administration of Governor Juan Gil Preciado and then municipal President Juan I. Menchaca. The project manager was the renowned architect Alberto Ourety, who designed a park that combined the natural with the recreational, full of lush gardens, mechanical and children's games, as well as a miniature train that would travel all the space.
