Cabañas Museum

The Cabañas Museum, declared a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1997, is a historical and architectural treasure of Guadalajara. Built between 1805 and 1810 by the architect Manuel Tolsá, this emblematic building was initially driven by Bishop Juan Cruz Ruíz de Cabañas and Crespo as The House of Mercy, hosting older adults and children orphaned until 1980. Today, the museum is famous for its 57 murals by the prominent jalisciense muralist José Clemente Orozco, including his masterpiece, The Man of Fire. Since its opening as the Cultural Institute on 13 November 1980, the Cabañas Museum has become a reference point for art and culture, offering a unique experience to all visitors who wish to explore its rich history.
