The Naughty Children (Mion Children)

In the heart of the Historical Centre of Guadalajara, there is the emblematic Fuente de los Niños Traviesos, the work of the talented jalisian sculptor Miguel Miramontes. Inaugurated in 1982 at the Callejón del Diablo or Paseo Degollado, this iconic source has captured the attention of visitors and locals for its ingenious design and for the charism of its children's figures, who play and have fun in their surroundings. Although commonly called "Meon Children," his real name highlights his naughty and playful essence. This work is only one of the more than four hundred sculptures that Miramontes created throughout his career, demonstrating his mastery as a sculptor. Previously located next to the Hospital Cabañas, the fountain is not only a tourist attraction, but a symbol of the jalisciense art and culture that invites the walkers to enjoy their beauty and to remember childhood with a smile.
