Arches of Guadalajara

We invite you to discover the Arches of Guadalajara, one of the most representative monuments of the city, opened on February 14, 1942 on the occasion of the celebrations for the 400 anniversary of the foundation of Guadalajara. This work of the architect Aurelio Aceves stands out for its majestic neo-classical style and rich ornamentation, which includes artisanal Tlaquepai tiles and the city's coat of arms. In front of these impressive arches, which are 8 meters wide and 14 meters high, you can see the phrase "Guadalajara, capital of the Kingdom of Nueva Galicia, founded in this place on February 14, 1542." This site is not only a testimony to the history of Guadalajara, but also an enabling space for walking and appreciating the architecture that forms part of the city's urban landscape.
